LOLO PRETTY GODDAMN JEALOUS, TBH. He was annoyed and laughed it off when it first happened, but as it keeps coming up and being a thing . . . Vincent is just bothered and frustrated forever. It's not like he can actually do anything to make the situation better, though!

To backtrack, Vincent was sort of very privately into Yuri, didn't really know what he was doing with himself but he kept enjoying what was going between them. They keep growing closer together and so on, which is pretty swell and unnerving and not as bad as it could be but still has the potential to be! Then, before Vincent was even aware of the situation, Yuri and Elliot knew each other and were a family . . . Like, Vincent getting to introduce Yuri to Gilbert went so much better, because Vincent could control that interaction and he could see how it goes down. What happens between Elliot and Yuri is really rather behind closed doors, and he can't sneak more than a rare glimpse into the situation without getting spotted for what he's doing . . . And he can only do so much on assumptions and hypotheticals, really.

So, Vincent has a lot of love for Elliot, but he's not allowed to be open and honest about it. He's really a piece of shit in general towards Elliot and has no intention of changing that, because it would be a lie. This is definitely where they are at, and Vincent cannot be close to Elliot without things potentially, more than likely, going south. Besides, it's not in Vincent's structure to honestly be compassionate and caring for another. If Elliot wants concern and affection, then he's going to get the facade that Vincent puts on and not the real deal. In that sense, Vincent is ten times more honest with Elliot for not pretending to be a great big brother which he could do without hesitation. Yuri, however!!!, can sit there and be completely nice and honest and open with Elliot, give him the love and affection that the boy needs, and do all these really awesome things . . . And it kind of fucking sucks for Vincent. He's stuck in this place, and while he appreciates that Elliot does get to have a good person in his life and that these are two people who really work together better than Elliot and him do . . . He knows Elliot, he loves Elliot, he has had so much more time, but he can never match what Yuri does and will never try to.

So, Vincent sort of just turns a blind eye to Yuri and Elliot. He doesn't want to be involved the way that Yuri wants him to be, because Vincent knows very damn well that the concept of family that Yuri and Elliot are both enchanted with is not a model that fits Vincent in with. Vincent sees family on a completely different level from them, and those two ideologies could blend and work together . . . But that would involve Vincent actually talking about what he thinks and feels about something, lolo. At heart, Vincent would rather be divorced from the Nightray name/family and leave it between those two, because he prefers to retreat and not involve as opposed to making any sort of stance or trouble openly. I have told Lei before that Vincent would consider it a very nice end to things if Yuri and Elliot somehow got together if/when he disappears, because they suit each other so well. Not just that Yuri is a good influence for Elliot, but Yuri also needs the influence of Elliot. Yuri wants to be a good person for all his parading around trying to play the devil's advocate, so Elliot can certainly help him foster that sort of idea and work it in his own way. They are completely sexually incongruent, but . . . Well, that's not on his mind. It works on the theoretical level for Vincent, at least.

As for the family on a whole . . . Vincent doesn't really see Yuri as part of it, still. Rather, the Nightray family as it exists with Vincent as a part of it does not and cannot include Yuri, so it remains between Yuri, Elliot, and Gilbert and it is . . . Pretty frayed. It's supposed to be frayed, because Vincent keeps it that way while still viewing them as a family and together in his mind. Really, it's still the same broken down structure they had before Elliot and Vanessa died where Gilbert is fucking off on his own and doesn't check in as much, Elliot is steam-rolling into whatever he gets himself into, and Vincent sits back and does not much bother with anyone outside of being creepy at Gilbert. It's how they work, it's all that Vincent knows to do with family, so while they could potentially spend time together and be domestic . . . It would be so awkward! And none of them would know what to do! Vincent knows it, so he's like never going to attend any sort of family dinner, oh god no.

Also, I spot that subtle household stick in there and, well, Leo is an attache to Elliot rather than being part of the group. Vincent will probably never look on Leo as family the same as Yuri is not family. They are not at the core of this group and are just important to individuals who are family.

So, how much would Elliot punch Yuri for trying to be a bad guy/thinking that he is? Is Vincent pretty on about his hypotheticals?
