Last but not least is Inara which is the hardest one to place. She is another one that balances emotion and logic well, but she also enters into Vincent's realm of social manipulation, almost abrasively so. More clearly than anyone else on the team, Vincent understands that he could come into clear conflict with her which doesn't benefit the team in the least. So, he keeps his distance, plays nice, and tries not to undercut the efforts of the team to work together, but he has no intention of getting close to her and hopes that she will understand the situation enough to give him space to allow that. The other side is possible, where they could work amazingly well together, which Vincent isn't unaware of, but he doesn't see that Iolite needs him to take the risk of dissolution in the hopes of stronger unification.

So, yes, Vincent doesn't want to hang with her, which doesn't mean that I don't want to thread with her . . . He's just very backed off with the whole Inara situation. He doesn't like emotions, and she seems to be pretty competent in that area, so it's like a cat with water, natch.
